ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Road crashes are the number one cause of death for young people today. Every year close to 1000 youth lose their life globally as a result of road crashes. Availability of safe blood is both a short term and long term emergency in Kenya. Every ten minutes someone requires a blood transfusion and its timely accessibility is literally a matter of life and death. Kenya is currently faced with rising road crash statistics and shrinking safe blood banks. The challenge therefore is to create awareness on the amount of bloodshed on our roads as we reverse the current national trend through strategies that motivate and make it easier for Kenyans to donate blood.

The Chariots of Destiny Organization and Blood Life Kenya teamed up to launch the first Global Youth Traffic Safety Month (GYTSM) event. COD setup a stand at a busy shopping mall and distributed information on the importance of road safety as well as urge the youth and members of the public to sign the BSAFE pledge which focuses on five road safety aspects.

Buckle up/ Slow down/ Always put your phone away/ Focus on the road/ Everyone share the road.
